Stuart Cunningham - Creative Economy, Question 9:

What should students do to prepare themselves?

Duration: 1:23

It’s not about the content necessarily of what they study, of course that is a question, but its about the relation between the disciplines, the relations between the kinds of knowledge and approaches they are gaining. If they can find ways to relate them to each other effectively and that is no small task.

Because all subjects are little silos unto themselves. But if they can relate disciplines, knowledge’s, subjects and approaches to each other effectively, and if they can really derive a great benefit and see the great benefit of working effectively with others, to solve problems, complex problems, in perhaps a disciplinary setting, that is going to set them up tremendously for contemporary work.

You cant expect students to do it if teachers and curricula aren’t doing it, and that is where some of the biggest challenges are faced. Retraining, interdisciplinary curricula and those kind of challenges are what all education systems face or should face.
