Stuart Cunningham - Creative Economy, Question 6:

How do companies value creative work?

Duration: 2:12

Many places are realising as NZ has I think for some time, that the only way to keep or maintain a sustainable manufacturing sector is to go further up the value chain, not go for low cost high volume manufacturing, because after all China is there, and China is there at present far more efficiently and effectively than any other country can be.

So most countries are facing decline. Sometimes catastrophic decline in their manufacture sector. With design elements built in, a countries manufacturing can be better branded, and reach customers both domestically and internationally, who are prepared to pay more for a better designed and better branded object , and in that way manufacturing can be kept alive in countries that would otherwise lose it.
